社区 Assistance for Neighbors with Cancer (CAN Cancer) is a program providing community assistance to help cover non-medical expenses for Harney County residents fighting 所有 forms of cancer.
CAN Cancer was established by the Martinez family of Wilderness Garbage in cooperation with the Central Oregon Haulers, 弯曲的垃圾 & 回收, 级联处理, 高地处置, 岸处理, and Madras Sanitary 服务.
The program was first introduced in Central Oregon in 2009. In 2011, Lincoln County Haulers developed a CAN Cancer program in their community. In 2012, 10bet十博体育 (HDH) and C&B Sanitary 服务 teamed up and brought CAN Cancer to Harney County.
The goal of CAN Cancer 在这里 in Harney County is to help provide emotional and financial support for patients and their families, through regular support group meetings and assistance with transportation and lodging costs. Support group meetings are currently on hold due to COVID-19 and will resume as soon as guidance changes.
If you have a cancer diagnosis, live in Harney County and are planning to or currently receiving treatment, you are eligible for the program.
Funds are raised by local community donations at events and through campaigns and promotions. Our two biggest events are the Tea Party Fundraiser in February and Trail of Hope, a 5K run/walk held every May. 百分之百 of 所有 contributions are deposited into the CAN Cancer fund administered through HDH. 百分之百 of donations stay local and benefit Harney County families.
